| Created for Relationship with God, all people everywhere and creation itself Called to Equip people to Serve by Growing Disciples of Jesus Christ

We have
experienced technical issues today, our apologies. Enjoy todays devotion. |
| Last
Wednesday we began the season of
Lent with Ash Wednesday. Lent is a time to focus our attention on
Jesus journey to Jerusalem and cross. It is also a time to take a
close look at our place in the world and how God might make use of
us. During our “Mondays in Lent” (starting tonight!
6:00 p.m. for a meal together, 6:45 for worship, 7:30 for Faithshop) we
will be considering five key words in our new Identity-Purpose:
Relationship, Equip, Serve, Grow, Disciple. I encourage you to
make time to participate in this time together as a congregation.
I also encourage you to reflect on the devotions you will be receiving
Monday through Friday for the next five weeks. The devotions are
written by members of Our Savior’s, also using the five key words
mentioned above. Please consider using these reflections not only
for your personal devotional time, but pass them on to friends and
co-workers as well. Pastor Steve |

Devotions
for February 22 by Duane Lofstad
The
Sign of the Cross
In our devotions this week we will be focusing on the word relationship. Let’s start out by looking at how we as Christians form the cross, and if you dare, make the sign of the cross. It starts with a vertical motion, starting up and moving down. This is a symbol of our relationship with God. It comes from Him to us. The second is a horizontal movement. This is to show we have a call to a relationship with our fellow beings. This is where some people stop, but we will complete the thought. That cross has been grounded in the Earth, which says to me that we also must have that relationship with God’s creation. So when you see the cross or make the sign of the cross, take a second to reflect on the relationships you have with God, others, and creation. A prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you that you have to come to us and created us for your purpose. Help us to see and understand what you would have us to do to further your kingdom here on Earth. In Jesus name Amen. |
