Called to Equip people to Serve by Growing Disciples of Jesus Christ

Devotion for March 2 by Dwight Benoy

God has equipped each of us with a unique set of gifts and talents. While one person may have math and science skills that they can apply in solving problems as an engineer, their neighbor may have a knack for growing delightfully exquisite roses. In God’s eyes they are both His children serving His purposes and equally loved. No one is more or less important. God has provided these gifts to us for one another.

In Romans 12: 3-8, Paul writes: For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgement, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness.

Loving and gracious God, I ask your help in realizing the gifts you have given my neighbors and to celebrate their contributions to the community of Christ. Amen
