The Good Shepherd: Jesus loves all of us! Based on Spark Family Magazine, Vol. 6 No. 11) Song: Radical God! 2) In today’s story, Jesus wants to tell people that he will always love them, no matter what! He tells a story about a sheep that gets lost and a good shepherd that searches for the sheep. Have you ever gotten lost before? What is it like to be lost? Who found you? Who always loves you?3) What does your face look like when you feel lost?4) In John 10:14 Jesus says, “I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me.” Jesus leads, loves, and protects us just like a good shepherd leads, loves, and protects sheep. And we know Jesus because we are his followers! Write the verse above on top of a piece of paper. Under it, make a list of what’s unique about your family. Maybe you all love to ride bicycles, eat spaghetti, or read the same book. Take a picture of your family holding the list. 5) Listen to the Story6) Song: LionsOh them lions they can eat my bodyBut they can’t swallow my soulThey keep on trying to crash my partyBut they can’t get controlNo way babyEven demons believe and trembleThey try to ruin our lives the sameYet I know that when the saints assembleSatan runs at every sign of Jesus’ nameOh them lions they can eat my bodyBut they can’t swallow my soulThey keep on trying to crash my partyBut they can’t get controlNo way babySatan prowls like a roaring lionSeeking whom he will devourBut I know that though he keeps on tryingHe’s no match for Jesus’ power.Oh them lions they can eat my bodyBut they can’t swallow my soulThey keep on trying to crash my partyBut they can’t get controlNo way baby7) Older kids: Find it in your Bible!Who was the first shepherd in the Bible? (see Genesis 4:2)What was David’s job before he became the king of Israel? (see 1 Samuel 16:11)What is the first line of Psalm 23? (see Psalm 23)Who was the first to hear about the birth of Jesus? (see Luke 2:8-12)8) Gonna Dance! 9) Play a game of Good Shepherd Hide and Seek. One person is the shepherd/seeker and one is the wolf/seeker. Everyone else is a hider/sheep. Sheep hide, and the shepherd tries to find the sheep before the wolf does. End with prayer. Dear God, thank you for finding us whenever we feel lost. We are not alone. Hooray! Amen.
