Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
“Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid for I am your God…” Isaiah 41:10
In this time of uncertainty, I am comforted by this core promise of our faith: We are not alone. We are navigating the murky waters of this pandemic together, trusting all the while that Christ’s compassion will guide our steps and drive us to love one another. Even as we socially distance, we are united in Christ and called to be community together.
Our call from Christ to love one another has led us to make the difficult decision to suspend all weekday activities at OSLC and provide as many online resources to aid in reflection, connection, and faith formation as we are able. This suspension includes Wednesday Lenten activities.
Additionally, our worship is moving online. We will be live-streaming worship on our YouTube page at 10:00 am on Sunday.
This is all effective through March 29. Details are included in the document pictured below and in an email just sent to members and regular attenders. Keep an eye on your email and this Facebook page for communications from us.
We don’t know how long this will last.
We encourage every person in our church to determine who they can care for in the midst of this crisis.
Christians have always made a difference by reshaping their circumstances. Christians have a long history of being called to be an alternative kind of community—the kind of community that cares for people regardless of who they are. We’ve practiced this through plagues and pandemics in the past and now we get to practice this again as we consider how to care anew for those in vulnerable situations. That is our (your) calling and challenge as followers of Jesus Christ.
All decisions made in the coming weeks are done so in a spirit of love and not fear. As more information becomes available, we will be in touch.
