Dear friends, grace to you, and peace, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I write to share an important update in the life of our congregation. After 14 years of faithful and deeply meaningful ministry, our Director of Youth Ministries, Nick Gilbert, has accepted a call to serve at St John’s Lutheran Church. Nick’s final day with us at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will be July 9th.
Over more than a decade, Nick has shared in the lives of our youth and families with remarkable care, and energy, and faithfulness. He has walked alongside students through confirmation, mission trips, retreats, and countless moments of growth and challenge. He has been a steady and compassionate presence—celebrating joys, offering guidance, and pointing young people to the love of Christ in ways that will continue to bear fruit for years to come.
While Nick choosing to step down and take a new position means we will deeply miss Nick’s leadership and presence among us, we give thanks for the ways God is calling him into this next chapter. We trust that the same gifts that have blessed our community will now bless others in Northfield.
You may have questions about what this means for the future of youth ministry at OSLC. While not all the details have been worked out, we do know that the High School Mission Trip to Detroit will still take place, providing our youth the chance to live out their faith in tangible ways. Middle School and High School COW will still meet as scheduled throughout the summer for faith-building and fellowship. Planning for Fall will continue. Youth are an integral part of our congregation and while Nick may be leaving, there are many supportive adults and youth ministry advocates who remain.
We will have an opportunity to celebrate and give thanks for Nick’s ministry on Sunday, June 28th, with a reception following worship. I encourage you to join in expressing your gratitude and sharing your well wishes with him and his family.
Please keep Nick, his family, and both congregations in your prayers during this time of transition.
